Frutas is a vibrant, symbolic tribute to belonging found outside of bloodlines. Inspired by Van Gogh’s emotive brushwork, the piece captures the lushness of Spanish oranges—scattered like memories across a wild, textured field. For the artist, these fruits became a quiet constant, present in every place her family lived, but only in Barcelona did they come to represent home. Though she has no familial ties to Catalonia, the community and culture mirrored parts of her own, making the city feel inherently hers. Frutas celebrates that unexpected harmony, and how something as simple as fruit can root us in joy, place, and a life deeply felt.
